your step-by-step guide
Accessing Residential Treatment
If you or a loved one are ready to pursue residential treatment, this guide can help walk you through each step.
The first step is finding a place to get stable.
Here are a few local options to consider.
step one
Next, consider working with a coordinator or a peer recovery specialist (PRS) to help walk alongside you. We can help at Rochester Recovers, too.
step Two
Next, find a provider to complete a Comprehensive Assessment. This is what provides a clinical recommendation for care, and allows you to gain placement in a treatment program.
step THREE
Have your insurance information ready to pick a treatment center in your network. Don’t have insurance? Here are a few places that can help.
step FOUR
After your assessment and insurance are secured, start calling treatment centers to get on their waiting list. You may need to do a phone screening or application. Your coordinator or PRS will be able to help with this.
step FIVE
Once you complete the first five steps, we hope you’ve found an option for treatment. While you wait, it’s important to stay connected to support.
step SIX
When it’s time to go to treatment, many providers have transportation options. If not and you need help getting there, here are a few resources to get to your admission appointment. Your PRS or coordinator may also be able to help here, too.
